history

In 1031, Hötzum was called Hunesheim, 1251 Hotselem, 1340 Hotzelern and 1344 Hötzelen. Hötzum was a parish village with a church, parish and parish widow's farm . In 1405 the Komtur zu Süpplingenburg was the patron of the parish. In the 18th century, Hötzum had four farms, a shepherd's farm, six half- span farms , six Kothöfe and eight Brinkitzer places . Since the area used to be more wooded than it is today, the place had 394 acres and 103 rods of wood .

On March 1, 1974, Hötzum was incorporated into the new municipality of Sickte. Today, numerous commuters to Wolfenbüttel and Braunschweig live in the town.
