Nancy Alaan Catamco (born June 19, 1969 ) is a Filipino politician of the Lakas Democracy Cong Kristiyano at Muslim (Lakas-Kampi) and currently the Liberal Party , which has been a member of the House of Representatives since 2010 .

Life

After attending school in 1986, Nancy Catamco began an undergraduate degree at Ateneo de Davao University , which she graduated in 1990. She served as President of Concept One from 2000 to 2006 and then completed a course in counseling at the Alliance Grad School between 2006 and 2007 . She has been President of Greatphil Chemical Corporation since 2009 .

In the elections on May 10, 2010 she was elected for the first time as a member of the House of Representatives for the Lakas Democratic Cong Kristiyano at Muslim (Lakas-Kampi) and has since represented the constituency of North Cotabato 2nd District . In that election she received 119,294 votes (51.44 percent), just ahead of the incumbent constituency holder of the Liberal Party, Bernardo Piñol, Jr. , who got 112,617 votes (48.56 percent). Piñol's protest against the election result at the House of Representatives Electoral Tribunal was unsuccessful. As a member of parliament, Nancy Catamco, who is herself a member of the Bagobo-Manobo from Mindanao , campaigns for indigenous peoples .

Nancy Catamco was re-elected in the elections of May 13, 2013 , where he now ran for the Liberal Party (LP). She prevailed again against Bernardo Piñol, Jr., and against Gregorio Andolana, both of whom competed as non- party . In the current, 2013-2016 lasted 16  legislative period she is Chair of the parliamentary committee on indigenous cultural communities and indigenous peoples (Committee on Indigenous Cultural Communities and Indigenous Peoples) . He is responsible for all matters that directly and fundamentally deal with indigenous cultural communities and indigenous peoples and the development of their communities. On the other hand, she was criticized for her work by representatives of indigenous peoples.
