Nancy Galbraith

Nancy Galbraith (born January 27, 1951 in Pittsburgh / Pennsylvania ) is an American composer , organist and music teacher .

Galbraith had her first piano lessons at the age of four. She studied composition at Ohio University until 1972 and at West Virginia University until 1978 , then from 1978 to 1986 composition, piano and organ at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. Galbraith is professor of composition and music theory there and has been music director and organist at the city's Christ Lutheran Church since 1985 .

Since 1974 she has composed around 120 works, including a. the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra , the Sinfonietta Ventus , the Trio Neos , the Cuarteto Latinoamericano , and the cello ensemble Cello Fury listed and internationally under the direction of conductors such as Gennady Rozhdestvensky , Mariss Jansons , Keith Lockhart , Sidney Harth , Samuel Jones and Page Robert were played .
