NRAM

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nanotube-based , Nano-RAM or NRAM is the name of a semiconductor storage technology . It was developed by Thomas Rückes at the Nantero company in Woburn .

The technique is characterized in that nanotubes of carbon are used for storing data. It is based on the fact that the tubes change their shape or orientation when a voltage is applied , which changes their electrical resistance and thus functions like a memory transistor. Since the tubes retain this changed shape / direction even when the voltage is removed, this memory technology is a non-volatile memory .
