Nasief Morris (born April 16, 1981 in Cape Town ) is a South African football player .

Career

In the club

Nasief Morris began his professional career at the football club FC Santos, a club from Cape Town . In 2001 the central defender moved to the Greek first division club Aris Thessaloniki . At Aris, Morris knew how to convince with good performances from the start and made it into the regular formation of his club, despite his height of 1.76 m for a central defender. In the summer of 2003 he finally moved to the Panathinaikos Athens club . In 2004 he won the Greek championship and the cup with Panathinaikos . He was also voted the season's best defender. In 2008, Morris was loaned to Recreativo Huelva from Spain .

In the national team

Morris made his debut for the South African national team in a 2004 friendly against Australia in London . In 2008 he took part in the African Championship as a regular player , but failed with his team in the preliminary round. He was appointed to the provisional squad for the 2009 Confederations Cup by the then national coach Joel Santana .
