Natasha Karabey

Natascha Karabey (born September 3, 1980 in Seeheim-Jugenheim ) is a German standard dancer. She comes from a family of dancers. Her parents run a dance school in Bad Homburg .

Life

Natascha Karabey is a trained banker. In 1991 she began to dance, since 1992 with her brother Sascha Karabey , with whom she initially competed as an amateur in the standard dances. They won numerous championships and competitions. They were finalists in all major world ranking tournaments, European and world championships in recent years; the couple finished second at the 2005 World Championships. They started for the dance club TC "Der Frankfurter Kreis" . Since 1999, both have topped the German rankings of the German Dance Sports Association (DTV) again and again.

In 2007 the couple moved to the German Professional Dance Sports Association (DPV). There they were able to win the German championship of professionals in standard dances seven times in a row from 2007 to 2013, most recently in Wuppertal on October 12, 2013.

Since the end of 2014, Natascha Karabey has started with her partner, the Slovenian Domen Krapez, on a national level in the DPV and on an international level in the World Dance Council (WDC). From 2015 to 2019, the two won the German championship for professionals in standard dances five times in a row. In 2016 and 2017 they took second place in the European Championships for Professionals in Standard Dances. On November 17, 2018, they became world champions for professionals in the standard freestyle in Bonn.

In total, Natascha Karabey was able to win the German Championship (DTV) for amateurs eight times and the German Championship (DPV) for professionals in the standard dances. This means she holds the national record.

Awards

On November 3, 2005, Sascha Karabey and his sister Natascha were awarded the State of Hesse's sports badge, the highest Hessian sports award.

On November 15, 2006 they were awarded the Association's Silver Badge of Honor by the Hessian Dance Sports Association for their numerous successes, but also for their commitment to the youngsters.

On August 15, 2007 they were honored by the President of the German Dance Sports Association Franz Allert for their services to dance sport and the German Dance Sports Association with its highest athletic award, the sports plaque of the German Dance Sports Association.
