Nathalie Appéré
Nathalie Appéré (born July 8, 1975 in Ploemeur ) is a French politician . She was a member of the National Assembly from 2012 to 2017 and has been the mayor of Rennes since 2014 .
Appéré graduated from high school in 1993 and then studied political science at the Institut d'études politiques in Rennes. During her studies Appéré, who describes herself as a Catholic socialist , joined the Parti socialiste . In 2001 she succeeded in moving into the city council of Rennes, where she also became a deputy to Mayor Edmond Hervé . In 2008 she was promoted to the position of first deputy. In the parliamentary elections in 2012 she ran successfully in the second constituency of the Ille-et-Vilaine département and entered the National Assembly.
For the 2014 municipal elections, Appéré took over the top candidacy for the PS after incumbent Daniel Delaveau did not run again. After the PS's list reached 35.6 percent of the vote in the first ballot, the PS list merged with the Greens and the Front de Gauche prevailed with 55.8 percent in the second ballot. In its first meeting on April 4, 2014, the new city council elected Nathalie Appéré as mayor of Rennes with 45 out of 61 votes.
