National Sporting Club

The National Sporting Club (NSC) is a former prestigious boxing organization . It was founded on March 5, 1891 by John Fleming and Peggy Bettinson in the English capital of London . Hugh Lowther was the first president.

The organized competitions of this association were conducted according to very strict rules. For example, the two boxers fighting against each other were not allowed to speak. In general, sportsmanship and fair play were also very important.

1909 the club was "the president of the porcelain and 22 carat gold existing Lonsdale belt " as a prize for winning the British Championship of the respective weight classes introduced.

The aim of the organization was to develop further, to become better known and more notable on a global level. However, it disbanded in 1929. In the same year the association was re-established as the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC). Most of the officials in the newly formed organization were senior members of the NSC.
