The National Technical Research University of Irkutsk ( Russian Иркутский национальный исследовательский технический университе Irkutskij nazionalnyj issledowatelskij technitscheskij uniwersite , English Irkutsk National Research Technical University ) is a public University of Technology and National Research University of Russia in Irkutsk with a total of 28,000 students and 1,100 academic staff. The current rector of the university is Buglow Nikolai Alexandrovich.
In 1930 the Siberian Mining Institute was founded and at that time consisted of the three faculties of mining , geology and metallurgy . The university is now one of the larger technical universities in Eastern Siberia .
