The National Cyber ​​Security Council is a body founded on February 23, 2011 by the German Federal Government .

The objectives are cooperation between state bodies and business in the fight against attacks by botnets. Strategies and measures against targeted attacks on infrastructures such as communication networks of government organizations or companies should be fended off.

In this Security Council, representatives of the Chancellery , Foreign Office , Ministry of the Interior , Defense , Justice , Economics and Finance of the federal government, the federal states as well as "associated members" from the economy are to coordinate the "overarching policy approaches for cybersecurity". The municipal umbrella associations have also been represented by the German District Association since 2018 . The new National Cyber ​​Defense Center will also have an advisory function .
