Ban Kao National Museum

The National Museum Ban Kao ( Thai พิพิธ ภัณฑ สถาน แห่ง ชาติ บ้าน เก่า ) is one of the National Museums of Thailand in Kanchanaburi .

The Ban Kao National Museum is located about 35 km northwest of Kanchanaburi on the Mae Nam Khwae Noi (Khwae Noi River) . It was established on the basis of finds made by a Dutch prisoner who came across them during the construction of the railroad during World War II .

In particular, the museum exhibits stone objects that suggest the settlement of this area more than 4,000 years ago. On display are skeletons, bowls, axes and grave goods, most of which were found near Ban Kao .
