National Council constituencies in the canton of Schwyz (1848)
In the first Swiss National Council elections in 1848 , the canton of Schwyz was divided into two constituencies for the only time.
The southern constituency comprised:
- the Gersau district
- the district of Küssnacht
- the district of Schwyz
The northern constituency comprised:
- the Einsiedeln district
- the district of Höfe
- the March district
The elections took place on October 22, 1848. Since both elected members rejected the mandate, a second ballot had to be held on November 11th (see results here ). The canton of Schwyz has been a single constituency since 1851 .
