The Gersau district is a district in the canton of Schwyz in Switzerland . The political community of Gersau and the district form a unit, as is the case with Einsiedeln and Küssnacht .
The district was created in 1817 through the dissolution of the Republic of Gersau and its incorporation into the Canton of Schwyz.
