Native Nod were an emocore band from New York that existed in the early 1990s.

history

The band only existed for a short time in the 1990s, although their influence on subsequent emo and screamo bands is nevertheless extremely strong.

At epitronic it says about the influence of the band:

“Native Nod was one of those pioneering bands from the early '90s which helped define the anxious, inordinately sincere roaring hardcore sound soon known as' emo'”

During the time in which the band existed, they released three EPs with a total of only nine songs, which were later summarized and re-released by their label Gern Blandsten Records as the album Today Puberty, Tomorrow The World .

After the breakup, the band members continued to play in a few other groups, such as The Van Pelt , The Lapse and Ted Leo and The Pharmacists .

style

Her style is characterized by emotionally sung - sometimes even spoken - lyrics, as well as more screaming text passages. There is also a "nervous" looking guitar and bass as well as faster drum rhythms.

The band is considered to be influential in relation to the so-called screamo bands that emerged in the 1990s, and - at least according to some opinions - on some bands, especially Cap'n Jazz , whose style was later described as indie rock emo.
