Natron is an Italian death metal band from Apulia .

history

The band was founded in 1992 by Max Marzocca as a leisure project under the name " Piper of Hamelin ". A short time later the name was changed to Natron. The name was chosen because the ancient Egyptians used baking soda for mummification . The first demo was released in 1994 and was still very grindcore- heavy. The band had releases on various mini- labels in the first few years before they signed a contract with the French music label Holy Records . After the release of the album Livid Corruption , the contract with Holy Records was canceled. Numerous live performances followed. In 2008 Marzocca founded the grindcore band Buffalo Grillz . After five years without a record deal, the Slovak independent label Metal Age Productions signed Natron in spring 2009 and in October 2009 the fifth studio album Rot Among Us was released . In 2010 the "World Rotten Tour 2010" followed, during which the band performed at the Michigan Death Fest in Battle Creek , USA . After problems with their current label Metal Age, from which Natron did not see enough support, the agreed next album could not be released. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the band, Natron recorded various songs from the early phase of the band in the mid and late 1990s and released them under the title Grindermeister . According to drummer and founding member Max Marzocca, the reason was that the sound of the first two studio albums was very bad and that they were no longer available due to a very small edition of around 1000 copies. The album was released in June 2012 on the Italian independent label Southern Brigade.
