Kingdom of nature

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kingdoms of nature ( Regna naturae ) is the name that goes back to Emanuel König (1682) for the three large groups in nature : the animal kingdom , the vegetable kingdom and the mineral kingdom . Based on this, Carl von Linné developed his Systema naturae as well as the term `` empire '' which is still in use today as the highest hierarchical level of biological systematics (taxonomy).
