Hardt nature reserve (Sundern)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hardt nature reserve with an area of 31.8  hectares is located east of Westenfeld in the urban area of Sundern and in the Hochsauerland district . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the district council of the Hochsauerlandkreis on March 15, 2019 with the Sundern landscape plan . Before that, the area was part of the Sundern nature reserve from 1993 . The NSG is surrounded by the Sundern nature reserve. The NSG borders directly on the K 6 from Westenfeld to Altenhellefeld in the south , which is also part of the Sundern nature reserve. To the south of the K 6, the Linnepetal nature reserve is mostly adjacent between Linnepe and Westenfeld .

description

The landscape plan explains the Hardt nature reserve: “The mixed deciduous forest parcels with a high proportion of oak grow on the south-facing slopes of a long ridge interrupted by a valley. With the exception of the parcels that have already been replanted in coniferous wood, all stands have emerged from coppice forest use and are dense stand character. However, coppice forest is currently still being used on smaller areas with young stock eruptions. The old wooden slides parallel to the slopes can be found everywhere. In the Hardtschlade area , a large area has been converted into a Christmas tree culture. ”In the center and to the east of the NSG there are spruce stands in the deciduous forest like islands or strips.

The landscape plan shows the nature reserves with coppice in the city of Sundern: “There are still numerous, mostly well-developed coppice areas in the planning area. As relics of a historical form of forest management, they represent evidence of the cultural landscape of this area. With the resumption and continuation of the management form typical of the Niederwald forest, the present area takes on a special position within a Niederwald network. "

Protection purpose

According to the landscape plan, it was designated as:

  • "Protection of a valuable forest (management) type, from a faunistic, vegetation and cultural-historical point of view;"
  • "Preservation and optimization of a species-rich (low) forest area through management adapted to the type of forest."
  • "The NSG also serves to sustainably secure the occurrence of rare animal and plant species."

Development measure

In the landscape plan, the following additional development measures were stipulated: “Existing softwood must be removed (§ 13 LNatSchG); In order to maintain the traditional forest management method, the use of the coppice forest on the area must be continued or resumed within the framework of contractual regulations (Section 26 LG).
