Mittelbruch nature reserve
The Mittelbruch nature reserve with an area of 14.6 hectares is located in the urban area of Bad Wünnenberg in the Paderborn district . The nature reserve (NSG) was designated in 1996 by the district council with the Büren-Wünnenberg landscape plan. The area has been protected since 2004 as part of the FFH area Bredelar, Stadtwald Marsberg and Fürstenberger Wald (DE 4518-305), which also includes the entire surrounding forest.
Area description
The NSG is an alder, ash and quarry forest in the Fürstenberg Forest. The area is a breeding and feeding habitat and a. of the black stork. For further optimization, according to the designation, the medium-term conversion of coniferous wood stocks into deciduous forests appropriate to the location should take place. The preservation of old and dead wood is planned. For areas of the NSG, which are the private forest of Count von Westphalen , a contract for protection and conservation was concluded in 2001. Rare animal and plant species are found in the NSG.
