Poland took part in the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow with a delegation of 306 athletes (232 men and 74 women) in 162 competitions in 21 sports.

The Polish athletes won 3 gold, 14 silver and 15 bronze medals. In the medal table of the games, Poland placed tenth place. The rider Jan Kowalczyk in show jumping and the athletes Bronisław Malinowski over 3000 meters obstacle and Władysław Kozakiewicz in the pole vault were Olympic champions . The flag bearer at the opening ceremony was the wrestler Czesław Kwieciński .
