The Waldbachtal nature reserve with an area of 21.6  hectares is located in the urban area of Bad Wünnenberg in the Paderborn district . The nature reserve (NSG) was designated in 1996 by the district council with the Büren-Wünnenberg landscape plan. The NSG is located south of Bad Wünnenberg.

Area description

The NSG includes the forest stream from the source to the forest house Waldbach and near-natural stream-alder-ash forest stocks in a curb valley on Grauwacke underground with the rare animal and plant species associated with this habitat. The brook-alder-ash forest has a light layer of trees and a dense layer of herbs. The clear and fast flowing water of the stream is dammed up in several ponds of a fish pond at the forest house Waldbach. Several forest roads with appropriate piping cross the water. The valley slopes and the upper valley area are planted with beeches of different ages and spruces.
