Naturum Sommen

Naturum Sommen is a visitor center and natural history museum on the island of Torpön in the summer lake in the southern Swedish highlands , Östergötland County .

The building is modeled on a traditional boathouse . The idea of ​​a nature museum was born in 1996 and inaugurated in 2002. From the beginning, the museum was supported by the local history society Torpön (Swedish: Torpöns hembygsförening). Naturum Sommen was closed at the end of 2013 because the Torpön Heimatverein and the Sommen Foundation (Swedish: Stiftelsen Sommen) could not continue their support, but reopened in 2014.

The municipality of Ydre has been leading the work in Sommen Naturum since 2017 .
