Naturvårdsverket
Naturvårdsverket is the state agency for environmental and nature protection in Sweden .
Established in 1967 and headquartered in Stockholm , the agency is subordinate to the Swedish Ministry of Environment and Energy and pursues the goals set by the Swedish Parliament for sustainable development in the areas of: climate and air , soil , biodiversity , environmental remediation, waste management , environmental monitoring and environmental research . The area of responsibility of the authority includes, for example, the designation of Natura 2000 areas, areas of imperial interest or the administration of the Swedish hunting register.
Wildlife Photographer of the Year
Since 1990, Naturvårdsverket has been awarding the “Nature Photographer of the Year” ( Årets naturfotograf ) award to distinguished photographers. Associated with the award is a grant that includes a grant of 25,000 SEK as well as the opportunity to exhibit the photographs in the Naturhistoriska riksmuseet .
