Reich interest
In Sweden, an area or individual object that has been identified as of state importance is referred to as a Reichsinteresse ( Swedish Riksintresse ) . The Swedish Board of Housing, Building and Spatial Planning Boverket is responsible in consultation with the sub-authorities. These areas are protected areas , in some cases also restricted areas .
Reich interests can exist in all official areas. A central distinction is made between nature conservation ( naturvård ), cultural assets ( kulturmiljövård ) and open air ( friluftsliv ). Both the environmental code ( Miljöbalken ) and the planning and building law ( Plan- och bygglagen, PBL ) apply to implementation. Other areas can also be regarded as Reich interests, whereby the competent authority in whose area of responsibility this falls generally names one.
The Riksantikvarieämbetet is responsible for the area of cultural assets, the Naturvårdsverket for nature and the environment, the Försvarsdepartementet for defense systems, the Trafikverket (and others) for infrastructure systems such as roads and paths, and the State Nuclear Power Inspectorate for systems for storing nuclear waste.
