Nautilus Pompilius ( Russian Наутилус Помпилиус ), often just called Nau ( Нау ), was a Russian rock band .

Nautilus Pompilius was founded in Sverdlovsk in 1982 and stayed together until 1997. They were known for their original lyrics and melodies. The songs became hymns of perestroika . In addition, some of her songs are part of the soundtrack of the film The Brother ( Брат ) . After the band broke up, frontman Vyacheslav Butusov started a very successful solo career and founded the band Ju-Piter .

In Sergei Lukjanenko's Guardian series , the main character Anton Gorodetsky often listens to music by Nautilus Pompilius. The band is also mentioned in Wladimir Kaminer's Die Reise nach Trulala . In Alina Bronsky's "Shard Park" can be found on p. 182ff. a translated quote.
