Nautical officer assistant
Nautical officer assistants (NOA; to Switzerland: officer aspirant of deck service) have to complete a 12-month practical training and seafaring period, mainly in the nautical area in accordance with the ship officer training ordinance (SchOffzAusbV).

The aim of the training is to acquire skills and knowledge in accordance with STCW in the field of ship management, cargo handling and stowage, monitoring of ship operations and personnel management.

The training takes place on board merchant ships. Following a change in the training guidelines, the ship's flag is no longer tied to the German flag.

Requirements are: - Abitur or technical college entrance qualification - Certificate of fitness for sea service - Basic safety training - First aid course (16 hours) - Registration certificate from the Maritime Vocational Training Center (BBS)
further education
Studying nautical science is possible in Germany at the University of Bremen , the University of Applied Sciences Flensburg (University of Applied Sciences) , the University of Wismar , the University of Emden / Leer at the department in Leer or the Jade University in Elsfleth . After six months of travel as a NOA, you can also start studying and spend the remaining travel time e.g. B. complete during the holidays (certificate from BBS).
