Naviair is the Danish air traffic control . It is an independent state-owned company (Selvstændig Offentlig Virksomhed) and reports to the Danish Ministry of Transport (Transportministeriet).

Areas of activity

Naivair provides the infrastructure for civil aviation. The activities include the area »En Route - Denmark«, »En Route - Greenland«, as well as the local air traffic control at individual airports:

The "En route - Denmark" area comprises the technical operation in the area of ​​the Danish airspace and the traffic management of the Danish airports. In addition, the department is responsible for informing and passing on flight information for the control center in Copenhagen. The scope of the business also includes the technical operation and maintenance of radar and communication systems.

The "En route - Greenland" area includes technical operations, including instruction of aircraft and delivery of flight information at the information center in Kangerlussuaq . The activities also include the technical operation and maintenance of radar systems on the Faroe Islands, as well as the navigation and communication systems on the Faroe Islands and Greenland.

The area of ​​"local air traffic control" comprises the control of the tower and the approach control center at a number of airports and airfields. It also provides flight information to the Faroe Islands.

Further tasks are the technical operation and maintenance of ATM equipment and airport equipment in Denmark.

Memberships

Naviair forms a network with nine northern European air traffic control providers . The “Borealis Alliance” comprises the air traffic control services of Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Ireland, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden and the United Kingdom. This association handles the air traffic of 3.5 million flights per year, over an area of ​​12.5 million km² in Northern European airspace. In the middle is the main route to the transatlantic transition.
