Life

Al-Rodhan began his career as a neurosurgeon and neuroscientist. After successfully studying medicine under the direction of the renowned neuroscientist Lord John Walton of Detchant at Newcastle University, Al-Rodhan conducted scientific research at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, where he also received a Ph.D. for his work Characterization of Opioid and Neurotensin Receptor Subtypes in the Brain with Respect to Antinociception.

Under the direction of Dennis Spencer and as a Fellow of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, Al-Rodhan moved to Yale University School in 1993 and to Massachusetts General Hospital , which is part of Harvard Medical School, in 1994 . During this time, his research led to collaborations with Nobel Laureate James E. Muller and Robert Martuza. The result of these collaborations was a neurotechnology program and the establishment of a new laboratory for cellular neurosurgery and neurosurgical technology at Harvard Medical School.

Al-Rodhan's research has also been recognized by the following awards: the Sir James Spence Prize, the Gibb Prize, the Farquhar-Murray Prize, the two-time award of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Meninger Prize, the annual award for residents of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the Young Investigator Prize from the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, and the annual Fellowship Prize from the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.

Since 2002, Al-Rodhan's work has focused on the interplay between neuroscience and international relations. He is considered a pioneer in the application of scientific findings from the field of neuroscience to classic strategic issues. Understanding the biochemical processes on which our emotions and character traits are based opens up completely new possibilities for analyzing phenomena such as conflicts or political negotiations. Based on his neuroscientific findings, he founded the new philosophical image of man, emotional amoral egoism . He is criticizing older philosophies according to which humans are seen as predominantly rational or moral beings. Based on this understanding of human nature, Al-Rodhan develops political concepts for international relations, global politics and security.

Al-Rodhan's current research interests and fields of activity are:

Geostrategy Geopolitics of the Middle East; Sustainable national and global security; Geopolitics of space and strategic technologies; as well as global strategic risk Philosophy Global Justice; Human dignity and the international order; shared human history and transcultural security and synergy; Philosophy of sustainable history and human dignity; History of ideas; Neurophilosophy of human nature and its effects on war, peace, morality and political cooperation between ideologies, states and cultures.
