Nearch is an impact crater south of the lunar front , southwest of Rosenberger crater and west of Hagecius . The rim of the crater is heavily eroded and the crater floor is largely flat.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Greek navigator and explorer Nearchos .
