Nebmaatre (high priest)

Nebmaatre ( Nb m3ˁt Rˁ ) was a son of the ancient Egyptian king Ramses IX. (ruled about 1128/1127 to 1109 BC). He was high priest of Heliopolis and bore the title of the Great One of the Watchers of Re-Atum = Wer-mau-en-Re-Atum ( Wr-m3w-n-Rˁ-Jtmw ), but also the variants of the Great One of the Watchers of Heliopolis = Wer- mau-Iunu ( Wr-m3w-Jwnw ) and Supreme Great of the Watchers of Heliopolis = Wer-mau-wer-en-Iunu ( Wr-m3w-wr-n-Jwnw ). Nebmaatre is known from temple inscriptions from Heliopolis . The inscriptions were probably made by him and also name his father. The temple or at least the remaining parts seem to have been built by Ramses II . The name Nebmaatre indicates that the high priest Nebmaatre under Ramses VI. Who was his great-uncle and the throne name Neb-maat-Re Meri-Amun wore, was born.
