Dietrich Raue

Dietrich Raue (born September 5, 1967 ) is a German Egyptologist .

Raue studied Egyptology , Near Eastern Archeology and Classical Archeology in Heidelberg and Berlin from 1986 to 1996 . In 1996 he received his doctorate in Heidelberg under Jan Assmann . Between 1996 and 1999 he worked on a DFG project on ceramics from the Old Kingdom . From 2000 to 2010 he worked at the Cairo department of the German Archaeological Institute . He took part in the excavations in Elephantine , which he has been leading since 2007. Since October 1, 2010 he has been curator of the Egyptian Museum at Leipzig University .
