Nebojša Stefanović (born November 20, 1976 in Belgrade , Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia ) is a Serbian politician.

Life

Stefanović attended high school in Belgrade and graduated from the private university Megatrend in 2011 with a master's degree in economics.In addition to his professional and political activities, he received his doctorate in economics from the University of Megatrend in July 2013 with a dissertation on municipal self-government in Belgrade .

Stefanović has worked in the private sector since 2004. He became a member of the Serbian Radical Party (SRS) and was a member of the Belgrade Municipal Council from 2004 to 2008. In the Serbian parliamentary elections in 2007 he was elected SRS deputy to the National Assembly, but was not re-elected in the early parliamentary election in 2008 . He then resigned from the SRS and joined the Serbian Progress Party . In the 2012 elections he was elected to Parliament and President of Parliament. After the early parliamentary elections in March 2014, he was appointed Minister of the Interior to the cabinet of Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić in April 2014 . He is considered the right hand man of Prime Minister Vučić.

Plagiarism allegation

On the occasion of his entry into the ministerial office in 2014, the Serbian journalist Andela Milivojević had Stefanović's dissertation assessed by the three Serbian academics working in Great Britain, Uglješa Grušić, Branislav Radeljić and Slobodan Tomić. These came to serious allegations against the scientific quality of the work and established obvious plagiarism .
