Nebris is a genus fromthe Umberfishes family (Sciaenidae). It includes two species that occur in the West Atlantic and the tropical East Pacific .
features
The fish of the genus are elongated with a pointed rear end and a broad, rounded head. This has a spongy, porous skull . The scales are small and smooth. The mouth is terminal and large with hanging angles and a protruding lower jaw. The chin has no barbels . The eyes are very small. The dorsal fin is divided by a clear notch and, like the anal fin, has scales. The tail fin is pointed at the end.
