Zabern's Archaeological Calendar

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Zabern's Archaeological Calendar has been published annually since 1959 with the 1960 edition by Philipp von Zabern publishing house in Mainz . It is edited by Franz Rutzen and Erika Simon .

Zabern's archaeological calendar comprises 28 calendar pages annually and presents mostly unknown archaeological works of art and new finds from all areas of archeology in high-quality photographs . They are presented in more detail by experts on the back of the calendar sheet. Like magazines, the editions of the calendars are counted by year and can be subscribed to. The calendar format is 22 × 34 centimeters, it has a spiral stitch.

In 2008 the calendar celebrated an anniversary with the 50th year and was particularly dedicated to the exhibition Constantine the Great in Trier in the same calendar year. The other years also often presented pictures from exhibitions whose catalogs were published by Zabern-Verlag or from publications that were soon published by the publisher. Thus, the calendar is also a way for the publisher to draw attention to these publications.
