Necropsy is a Finnish death metal band from Lahti , which was founded in 1987 under the name Anxiety , disbanded in 1994 and has been active again since 2008.

history

The band was founded in June 1987 by the eleven year old boys Janne Kosonen (electric guitar, vocals) and Ville Raitio (drums) under the name Anxiety. In 1989 a first demo , entitled Mental Disturbance , was presented. Then Aku Rytkölä joined the line-up as a singer, whereupon Kosonen concentrated only on playing the guitar. In 1990 the second demo concluded Curse on, the later that year Indigestion followed. After the demo Another World in 1991 Aku Rytkölä left the line-up, whereupon Tero Kosonen joined them. In the same year there was also a split release with Demigod and the EP Never to Be Forgotten . After the 1992 demo Go All the Way of Flesh , Taito Soramäki joined as the new drummer. Another demo followed in 1993, and the song Anoiting of the Sick was added to the Monoheads sampler . In 1994 the guitarist Aatu Holma decided to leave, who was then replaced by Tommi Tanskanen. Although the group was about to sign a record deal, it came to a breakup that same year.

In autumn 2008 Janne and Tero Kosonen revived the band with Aatu Holma. Hannu Väänänen took over the drums while Ville Vartiainen played the bass. After the first rehearsals and a few gigs in Finland, the debut album Bloodwork was released in July 2011 . In October Holma left the group and Sami Heinonen came as a replacement. After the band signed a record deal with Xtreem Music , the EP Psychopath Next Door was released in 2013 , which was followed by the album Buried in the Woods on the same label in 2015.

style

According to the band biography on necropsy.fi , the formation was influenced by bands like Slayer , Dark Angel and Death . Luxi Lahtinen from voicesfromthedarkside.de assigned Bloodwork to Death Metal. The group orientates itself on the old-school form of the genre, which it has played before, whereby it works brutally and simply. Above all, the song structures are kept simple. He was reminded of Adramelech . Eckart Maronde from Metal.de also assigned Buried in the Woods to classic Death Metal, whereby the electric guitars would drag and the singer "grumbled his way through his lyrics as if he had his mouth full of modern graveyard earth". The group mixes "repulsively brutal, harsh, desperate and mystical sounds" and reminds one of Demigod through this " symbiosis of brutality and sick melodies".
