Nederlands Genootschap van Hoofdredacteuren
The Nederlands Genootschap van Hoofdredacteuren (Dutch Society of Editors-in-Chief) is an association of Dutch editors-in-chief who work for newspapers, magazines, radio and television.
history
The association was founded in 1959 and comprised editors-in-chief of daily newspapers. In the 1960s, the company also opened up to deputy editors-in-chief, and then editors-in-chief of weekly newspapers and magazines were added. In 1999 representatives from radio and television were accepted.
From time to time the Society made comments on events and developments affecting journalism, for example in 2001 it complained about the inadequate training of journalists. In 2004, she expressed concern about the image of journalists, which could be harmed by inadequate regulations on the disclosure of outside activities. In 2006, she requested the release of two De Telegraaf journalists who were briefly detained for refusing to reveal their source.
Since 2006 the company has been a co-holder of the “ De Tegel ” journalism award .

In addition to the mutual exchange of information, the Nederlands Genootschap van Hoofdredacteuren maintains contacts with professional associations such as the "Nederlandse Vereniging van Journalisten" (NVJ), "Nederlandse Dagbladpers" (NDP), the " Raad voor de Journalistiek ", the Dutch cabinet and royal family as well as universities and Universities.
There are currently around 100 editors-in-chief members, and two meetings are held annually. Arendo Joustra from Elsevier magazine has been the chairman since April 2006 . The administration is located in Hilversum .
