Neele Ternes (* 1980 ) is a German pop musician . She became known as the singer of the song Dad from the Edeka commercial Heimkommen .

biography

Neele Ternes is originally from Oldenburg and has lived in Berlin since 2015. Her father Norbert Ternes is a violinist, was second concertmaster at the State Theater in Oldenburg, where he directs the amateur orchestra "Oldenburgisches Schlossorchester". She herself learned to play the piano in her childhood. She completed a music degree in jazz singing and singing education in Bremen and then went to Hamburg, where she worked as a singing teacher at a music school. She also worked as a studio singer for various artists. Among other things, she released the single Whatever with Phunk Nouveaux in 2003 , a project by DJ Azzido Da Bass . She also co-wrote songs for Annett Louisan , Ivy Quainoo and Conchita Wurst , among others .

At the end of 2015, Florian Lakenmacher was commissioned by her Hamburg production company Supreme Music to write the music for a commercial for the Edeka company . The film with the title Coming Home is about a father or grandfather who often spends Christmas alone until he manages to use a trick to bring his children and grandchildren together to celebrate. Ternes was asked to sing the song called Dad . The spot was published on the internet at the end of November and after it proved to be very successful, the full song was first released via Soundcloud and also as a commercial download on December 11, 2015. Then Dad entered the German single charts .
