negative ( Latin negatum "negates" to negare ) stands for:


The negative is:

  • In analog photography, the exposed, developed image carrier (mostly film, initially a glass plate) from which images (positives) are made, see negative film
  • in projective geometry, the mirror image
  • In molding technology, a press or casting mold, the relief of which is the reverse of the molded object, see model (mold)
