negro (adjective)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The adjective neger is an East Austrian , outdated synonym for broke or penniless .

Maria Hornung and Siegmar Grüner locate the origin as in the case of black driving "in the dark, hidden". Andrea Maria Dusl traces the word back to Neige (old Viennese nāg, the running out of a supply).

Associated with black immigrants in a disparaging way from a folk etymology perspective, the expression suggests have-nots and scroungers.

A negro person is also called a negro . 1984 reached Rainhard Fendrich Austropop - Single I am a Negerant Madam Austrian charts .
