Neglect was a New York hardcore band that also counted themselves to the original Hatecore scene. The band was known for their negative, nihilistic, civilization-critical and hateful lyrics, some of which dealt with murder and suicide fantasies and were classified as harmful to young people. They were also notorious for their brutal live performances, in which singer Zoid beat and injured himself and even beat himself unconscious and split his skull several times. Musically, Neglect played very rough, dark hardcore punk with sometimes strong metal influences and a mosh impact.
history
Neglect was founded in 1991 by New York musicians Brian "Zoid" and Bones, who were both previously active in the hardcore band Vice Grip . They were joined by John from Mind over Matter and drummer Torn. Some time later, Derek also joined. The band first released a very rough rehearsal room demo and a year later a second demo, through which they were already able to gather a certain fan base. A year later the band released two singles recorded by the well-known New York hardcore punk producer Don Fury , the first on the French label Hardway Records , the following on the American Wreckage Records. At the invitation of We Bite Records , where Neglect could release an album, the band came to Europe for the first time in 1994, where they recorded another single with We Bite. Neglect played in Germany , France , Belgium , Italy , Slovenia , Sweden , Norway , Denmark and the Netherlands . Despite a successful tour and offers from bigger labels as well as work on a new album, Neglect broke up in 1995 after a concert in Freeport . In 2005 the band got together again for some shows together. Soon after, singer Brian was diagnosed with a nervous disorder that made it impossible for him to continue singing. Since then, neglect has been considered to be permanently dissolved.
