Neil Wilkinson (soccer player)

Neil Wilkinson (born February 16, 1955 - August 2, 2016 ) was an English football player .

Athletic career

Wilkinson made his debut in 1972 for the competition team of the Blackburn Rovers, which was then in the third-class Third Division . It was only after promotion to the Second Division in the summer of 1975 that the full-back came to increased missions, in the following two seasons he played 23 second division games. After a stay in South Africa, he returned to English professional football in 1978, where he joined Port Vale in the Fourth Division . In October of that year he moved within the league to league rivals Crewe Alexandra , where he played 75 championship games by the end of his career in 1981.
