Necropolis de la Grand Mesle
The necropolis de la Grand Mesle (also called Grand Mesles Tumuli or Sépulture du Camp du Grand Vitai) is located south of Averdon , north of Blois in the Loir-et-Cher department in France .
The tumuli and menhirs of the Grande Mesle belong to a Neolithic necropolis , on a rock spur formed by the meeting of two valleys.
The tumuli on the spur have been explored and plundered by archeology and enthusiasts since the late 19th century. The remains of four elongated, recessed megalithic systems can still be seen. Hills of all sizes that have been gutted like craters surround the grounds
