Prunittu necropolis

The necropolis of Prunittu is an approximately 200 m long rock grave necropolis with 27 domus de Janas in the hamlet of Sorrana, about one kilometer southwest of Sorradile in the province of Oristano on sardines .

Most of the necropolis' hypogea are within easy reach. However, some entrances are up to four meters from the floor in a vertical trachyte wall . Almost all of them consist of interconnected, mainly longitudinal chambers, which are only occasionally accompanied by side chambers.

The graves are generally oriented to the south and south-west. There are straight and curved chamber walls. However, the corners are always rounded. The ceilings are basically straight. The most interesting is tomb X, called Sa Cresia (the church). It is multicellular with an irregular trapezoidal plan. There are entrances to the next chambers on the back wall of the room above the floor. A considerable “false architrave ” lies above the central entrance .

The necropolis was examined in the 1980s.

The complex was built by the late Neolithic (3500–2900 BC) Ozieri culture and was possibly used again in Byzantine times.
