Razet necropolis

The necropolis of Razet (also La nécropole de Coizard-Joches), discovered in 1872, has 37 of the Marnegrottos carved into the chalk cliffs , artificial burial caves of the Neolithic Seine-Oise-Marne culture (SOM). It is located in Coizard-Joches in the Marne department in France . Of the 37 grottoes in the necropolis, only two are accessible today.

Until about 2000 BC BC, the inhabitants of the region deposited their dead in the grottos of the necropolis and entrusted them to the partially depicted with a double ax ( French Déesse Mère or Déesse des Morts - German  "mother or death goddess" ), whose traces on the walls of two Grottoes were found.

The finds from the second chamber are in the Musée de Saint-Germain-en-Laye.

The grotto has been registered as a Monument historique since 1926 .
