Nelly Buntschu

Nelly Buntschu (born December 10, 1947 in Vernier , GE ) is a Swiss politician of the Swiss Labor Party (PdA).

The party politician

Nelly Buntschu has been a member of the PdA for over 20 years. On August 25, 2007 she was elected president of the party. In 2009 she handed this office over to her successor, Norberto Crivelli . Before that, she was mayor of Vernier in the canton of Geneva for eight years, from 1999 to 2007. She is still a member of the party leadership of the Geneva cantonal party.

Political profile

Buntschu is not very well known at the national level. At the local level, especially during her tenure as mayor of Vernier, the expansion of public transport and the promotion of affordable housing were among her most important concerns.

Others

Buntschu is the mother of two daughters and a simple grandmother. She is also vice-president of a housing foundation in Vernier.
