Nelly Frijda (* 4. May 1936 in Amsterdam , as Nelly Wiegel ) is a Dutch actress and politician .

Nelly Frijda is one of the most popular character actresses in the Netherlands . She has worked in film and television productions, in radio plays and radio productions , as well as in theater performances by Kafka, Shakespeare, Dickens and Tankred Dorst, among others. After three months of acting training, she first joined a cabaret company. Frijda later switched to the stages of Rinus Ferdinandusse and Berend Boudewijn. She had first contacts with the German audience in 1983 in Marlen Gorris' Die Stille um Christine M. In 1986, Nelly Frijda played Ma Flodder in the feature film Flodder - A family to smooch , which significantly increased her popularity. The two sequels of this feature film from 1992 and 1995 could not follow the success of the first part.

Frijda founded the local party Red Amsterdam with lawyer Nelleke van 't Hoogerhuijs in 2009 and had a seat on the Amsterdam City Council from 2010 to 2011.
