Flodder - A family to smooch in Manhattan is a Dutch feature film from 1992. The film is the sequel to the hit movie Flodder - A family to smooch and is about the anti-social Flodder family.

action

A family exchange program is taking place between Holland and the USA. The city council of Sonnental seized the opportunity to get rid of the Flodder family for at least a year. When they arrive in New York, they are mistakenly mistaken for a Russian medical delegation. They then live in frenzy and do mischief there too. Werner tries to point out the mistake, but loses his glasses in the process and later has to go to the hospital injured. The president's son goes after Kees and the Flodders later found their own nightclub.

background

  • At the beginning, the film partly ties in with its predecessor. For example, you can see the Flodders' house, which was destroyed during a party at the end of the first part and is now just a ruin. Some characters, such as Johnnie's friend Yolanda (their engagement was the reason for the said celebration), however, no longer appear.
  • The scene in front of the White House was filmed from the garden. Nowadays no recordings can be made from there.
  • The cut US version (96 minutes) of the film was released in Germany both in theaters and on DVD
  • In 2015 the film was released in Germany in the rare and long-awaited Extended Cut version (115 minutes) as part of a DVD triology box by the Studiocanal label. The unsynchronized parts in the film were supplemented with subtitles.
  • The film was released in full on DVD in Spain and the Netherlands.
  • In the film, Huub Stapel plays the role of Johnnie for the last time. In the series and the third film, Coen van Vrijberghe de Coningh takes on this role. Stapel can also be seen again in the series. In the fifth season (episode Egotrip ) he plays the crook Paolo .
  • The residential neighborhood Zonnedael where the Flodders live, has in the German versions of two different names: In the movies is the settlement sun valley , in the series episodes is of suns shining speech.

criticism

"Tasteless and primitive slapstick, who drives his bad jokes and crude nonsense at the expense of social marginalized groups."
