The Nematoida (from ancient Greek νῆμα nēma , German 'thread' and suffix "-oid"; "threadlike") are a rankless taxon in which two strains of worm-like, invertebrate animals are united, the roundworms (Nematoda) and the string worms (Nematomorpha) .

features

The common feature of the Nematoida is a long, thin body with a collagen cuticle and longitudinal muscles that are separated by epidermal strips that are criss-crossed by nerves. A circular musculature is missing. This makes peristaltic movements like an earthworm impossible. The animals move by wave movements, which in the case of the string worms take place laterally from right to left, in the case of the nematode dorso-ventrally from above to below. They also lack the simplest excretory organs ( protonephrids ). Your sperm are amoeboid and have no acrosome .
