history

Magnus Goertz and Thomas Eriksson founded the Neonode company in 2001. In March 2002 a Neonode cell phone was presented for the first time at CeBIT and at the end of 2002, after a press conference in Stockholm, 20,000 pre-orders were already drawn.

At the beginning of July 2004, after two years of planning, the first model "N1" was available. In March 2005 an update for the "N1m" followed. In February 2007 Neonode presented its newest and world's smallest mobile phone with touchscreen "N2" at the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. According to the company's website, this mobile phone was first brought onto the market in July 2007 and was sold around 31,000 times by December 2007. The N2 weighs 60 g, has Bluetooth and a touchscreen. It has been available in retail stores in Germany since May 2008 and directly on the Neonode website in most parts of Europe.

On August 13, 2007, Neonode merged with SBE, Inc., since then the company has been traded on the stock exchange, where it operates under the name NEON. At the end of fiscal 2007 sales of $ 3.1 million were compared to an annual loss of $ 48.4 million. This corresponds to a return on sales of −1560 percent.
