Nepenthes adnata is a carnivorous plant from the genus of pitcher plants ( Nepenthes )nativeto the island of Sumatra . In contrast to many other pitcher plant species, there areno known natural hybrids of Nepenthes adnata .
description
Nepenthes adnata grows about 2 meters high and forms a thin cylindrical trunk. The elliptically shaped leaves are a good 10 cm long and 2 to 4 cm wide. The leaves are significantly wider on young plants.
The jugs are over 10 cm tall and about 3 cm wide.
The male flowers develop on flower panicles over 10 cm long, which sit on a 10 cm long stem. The individual male flowers are about 0.5 cm in size and sit on an approximately 1 cm long stem. The female flowers form on a shorter panicle, the fruits are up to 4 cm in size.
distribution
The species is endemic to the western part of the island of Sumatra at altitudes of 600 to 1100 m.
