Nephanes titan is a beetle fromthe dwarf beetle family (Ptiliidae).

features

The beetles reach a body length of 0.55 to 0.65 millimeters. Your body is slightly arched and has parallel sides. It is slightly shiny dark brown in color, very finely haired and is dense and noticeably structured in dots and shagreen at the bottom. The deck wings have a narrow yellowish hem at the rear edge. The antennae are brown, the first two links are red. The legs are brownish yellow.

Occurrence and way of life

The species occurs in almost all of Europe, including Madeira and the Canary Islands . It is absent on the Balkan Peninsula and has not been recorded in Spain or the Netherlands. The species is widespread in Central Europe and not rare. The animals live in rotting plant material, compost, manure and dried cow and horse manure.
